Investment Vault: Reconstruct Ownership History From Your Documents
by Dog House Ventures LLC · Limited evaluation access
Investment Vault is an evidence-first application that helps you organize brokerage statements, confirmations, transfers, DRS activity, inherited records, and other supporting PDFs into a clearer, source-linked ownership and transaction history. Processing stays on your device. Candidate events remain user-reviewed. It is not a brokerage, tax service, or source of investment advice.
- Local device processing
- User-reviewed candidates
- Source-linked records
- Tamper-evident integrity
Definition
What is Investment Vault?
Investment Vault helps investors and document keepers turn scattered investment records into a reviewable, evidence-linked history. You import supported PDF documents—including scanned records read with on-device OCR—and the app extracts candidate events for your review; confirmed events stay linked to their sources with integrity protections you can inspect.
- What does evidence-linked mean?
- Confirmed events stay connected to the supporting files you imported so you can review the source behind each entry. Evidence-linked does not mean automatic legal proof of ownership, guaranteed accuracy, or complete cost-basis recovery.
- What remains user-reviewed?
- Extracted candidate events are presented for your review. You can edit, confirm, reject, or defer candidates before anything becomes part of your ownership record.
- Who developed it?
- Dog House Ventures LLC develops and publishes Investment Vault. The product brand is not a separate legal company. See About for company context.
The Problem
Scattered records make ownership history hard to follow
Scattered statements, incomplete transfer packets, inherited files, and missing periods make ownership history hard to follow. Investment Vault focuses on organizing documents and reconstructing what those documents support—not live portfolio performance.
Scattered brokerage records are the default. Investment Vault is built for everyday investors who have accumulated years of statements, trade confirmations, transfer records, tax documents, and PDFs across multiple accounts or brokers.
Is Investment Vault for me?
It is especially useful if you:
- Save documents but struggle to keep them organized
- Have statements spread across folders, email, downloads, or old devices
- Have transferred investments between brokers
- Own older or noncovered positions with incomplete history
- Want a clearer record of how your holdings changed over time
- Need to identify missing documents or gaps before they become a problem
You do not need to be a professional investor. If your investment records are scattered, incomplete, or difficult to follow, Investment Vault is designed to help.
How It Works
Three Steps to a Source-Linked Ownership History
Import supported statements, review extracted events, and build a source-linked ownership history—processed locally on your device.
- 01
Import supported records
Bring in supported PDF brokerage statements and related documents, including scanned records processed with on-device OCR. Processing stays on your device.
- 02
Review candidate events
Examine extracted details. Edit, confirm, reject, or defer each candidate before it becomes part of your ownership record.
- 03
Build and preserve the source-linked history
Confirmed events remain linked to supporting documents, with integrity checks and an append-only audit trail you can review.

Built for Real Recordkeeping Situations
Investment Vault is for people who need evidence-linked history—not day trading tools or live performance dashboards.
Long-term taxable investors
Years of statements, older lots, and incomplete firm history make a document-backed timeline essential—not just current balances.
Investors who changed brokers
After ACATS or other transfers, documents from delivering and receiving firms often diverge. Organizing both sides clarifies what moved and what may still be missing.
DRS and registered shareholders
Keep direct-registration advices and brokerage statements in one reviewable archive. Investment Vault is not a transfer agent and does not replace Computershare or issuer portals.
Heirs and executors
Organize inherited brokerage records and related paperwork for personal review or professionals. This is organizational support—not legal, tax, or probate advice.
Clients preparing packages for CPAs
Export an organized, source-linked summary of confirmed events and gaps so your tax professional can work from clearer evidence—not a chaotic folder of PDFs.
Integrity & protections
Tamper-Evident Protections Around the Record
Integrity controls help expose unauthorized changes and detect mismatches. They do not claim that tampering is impossible.
SHA-256
Integrity checks help verify that supporting records match the fingerprints preserved with your history.
SHA3-256
A second hash family strengthens mismatch detection across stored evidence and confirmed events.
Append-only audit history
Review activity is recorded in an append-only trail so prior actions remain inspectable over time.
Source-linked records
Confirmed ownership events stay connected to the documents that support them.
Chain-of-custody preservation
Preserved custody records help you understand how evidence moved through review and confirmation.
Integrity mismatch detection
When fingerprints no longer align, Investment Vault can surface mismatches instead of silently accepting change.
Local processing
Supported records are processed on your device. Dog House Ventures does not receive those imported records through the app.
These controls are designed to be inspectable and tamper-evident. They support careful recordkeeping; they do not convert Investment Vault into a legal certification service or guarantee that unauthorized change is impossible.
Boundaries
What Investment Vault does not do
- Not a brokerage and not investment, tax, or legal advice.
- Not a live portfolio tracker and not a trading platform.
- Does not connect to brokerage accounts or pull live account data.
- Does not invent missing records or guarantee cost-basis reconstruction.
- Does not provide automatic proof of ownership or guaranteed accuracy.
- Does not guarantee OCR accuracy or document completeness—OCR-derived details are candidates you must review and confirm, not automatically trusted facts.
- Does not file taxes or replace a CPA, attorney, broker, or transfer agent.

Investment Vault FAQ
Clear answers on evidence linkage, local processing, integrity controls, and private beta access.
What does evidence-linked mean in Investment Vault?
Confirmed ownership and transaction events stay connected to the supporting documents you imported, so you can review the source behind each entry. Evidence-linked does not mean automatic legal proof of ownership or guaranteed completeness.
What remains user-reviewed?
Extracted candidate events are presented for your review. You can edit, confirm, reject, or defer candidates before anything becomes part of your ownership record. The product does not silently invent or finalize history without your review.
Does Investment Vault connect to my brokerage account?
No. Investment Vault does not connect to brokerage accounts, aggregate live portfolio data, or require brokerage credentials. You import supported statements and related PDFs yourself.
Can Investment Vault identify gaps I may not know exist?
Investment Vault can identify potential gaps and inconsistencies based on the statements and confirmed events you provide. It does not invent missing records or claim certainty where evidence is incomplete.
Where is my data stored during processing?
Supported records are processed locally on your device. Dog House Ventures does not receive those imported records through the app.
Is Investment Vault financial, investment, legal, or tax advice?
No. Investment Vault helps you organize evidence and reconstruct ownership history from documents you provide. It is not financial, investment, legal, or tax advice.
How does Investment Vault protect record integrity?
Confirmed events remain linked to their source documents and are protected by SHA-256 and SHA3-256 integrity checks, an append-only audit trail, and preserved chain-of-custody records. These controls are tamper-evident and can detect integrity mismatches; they do not claim that tampering is impossible.
